Irini leads the work on renewable energy assessments in the context of agrifood systems focusing especially on energy needs, renewable energy for agrifood chains and bioenergy assessments through the Bioenergy and Food Security Approach.

The work assists countries understand how to support their agriculture sector and agrifood chains transition through innovation centred solutions that put sustainable development at the centre while strengthening food security, livelihoods, growth and poverty reduction.

The work has a global nature and supports countries throughout Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Irini has a combined engineering and resource economics background (BEng (Hons), MSc (Res Econ), PhD (Econ)).
